Preserving the Legacy of 2000-2003

Webmasters Page

The Official Website of Long Hill Township is overseen by the Township Administrator.  Proposed changes to the website which involve Township policy should be e-mailed to him.

Comments about the various pages of Notices on this website should be directed to the person who maintains each notice page.  A name, e-mail link and phone number are listed on each page for that purpose.  If you are aware of an event that should be listed, please contact the page administrator directly.

Periodic maintenance of the website is performed by a volunteer Webmaster.  Please directly e-mail to the webmaster:

  • Proposed changes which do not involve Township policy
  • Suggestions for additions that would make the website more attractive to you
  • Corrections and updates to non-official phone numbers, organization officials, etc.
  • Spelling errors
  • Notification of broken links
  • Notification of any quirky behavior by your browser. This is the way we learn.
  • Suggested repairs to the html code so it performs the way you'd like it to.
This website has been thoroughly tested using Netscape 4.02, 4.76, 6.01 and 7.02, and Internet Explorer 5 and 6.  It is constructed to work with any versions of Netscape 4+ and Explorer 4+.  If it does not, please contact the Webmaster.  Sorry, because we use "style sheets" and Javascript, the site will not work well with earlier browsers.
  • This website has some troubles in Mac 9&10 with IE5.  But you probably have troubles with other websites as well.  If you have a Mac 9 or 10, switch to Netscape or upgrade to Jaguar/Safari.
  • On Windows PC, Netscape 6 has some rendering problems, due to lack of factory testing before release.  Switch to Netscape 7.
  • Opera 7 is reported to work well with the mouseover popups.  They were not supported in earlied versions.
The choice of html <tag> implementation is based on creating code which appears virtually the same on Netscape 4, Netscape 6/7 or Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers, and which creates a layout that is readable on both 1024x768 and 800x600 monitors.  It generally works.  No credit is given to any of the available code generators.  They don't produce compact, scalable and/or transportable code.  This site is hand-written.  It has a few WT's.
The Webmaster is indebted to Popups by overLIB! for the code that makes the mouseover popups work, and to Picosearch for the search engine.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to the Township Committee for their support through the Website Sponsorship Resolution.  We can't list all the township employees who developed information and helped with the reviews in their subject area.  However, it is appropriate to recognize those who went beyond the ordinary call of duty to make this site a success.

Joseph Manning, Long Hill Township Administrator
Arline Most and Barbara Napholtz, Long Hill Township Public Library
Jerry Testa, Public Works Director, and Mario Bonaccorso who took many of the pictures on this website.
Webmasters receiving certificates
Current and former webmasters receiving Certificates of Appreciation on March 28, 2001.  From left, Dennis Sandow, Kevin Franken, Matthew Carracino, Larry Fast and Mayor Sadowski
We also extend our thanks and appreciation to the volunteers who contributed time and effort to developing this website in 1998, and maintaining it through 1999.  Without their effort, this current website would have been a little harder to get started.
