The Senior Citizens of Long Hill Township have been active since 1971.  We now have over 320 members.

The Senior Citizen's Club is independent of the Township, and elects its own Executive Committee.  Executive Committee members serve 2 year terms.  Member dues are $10.00 per year.  Membership is open to any resident (or former resident) 55 years of age and older.  MEMBERS are needed.

The Morris County Division on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans operates its Midday Friendship Center and Nutrition Program at the Senior Center rvery Monday and Friday at Noon.  $2.00 suggested donation.  The Senior Center is also the base for the County's Meals-On-Wheels program.  For more information, contact the Center or call the Morris County Nutrition Program at  973-285-6856 .

The Somerset Visiting Nurses Association operates a Blood Pressure Clinic at every regular meeting, and a Flu Clinic for all township residents every October.

After 7 years of planning, the Senior Center opened in Gillette in 2003.  The Center has 5700 square feet, and includes a kitchen and meeting facilities to accommodate 313 people in auditorium seating or 146 people seated at tables.

To schedule the Senior Center for your event, email us or call the office at 908-626-1101.

Senior Center rear view
The parking lot is paved and the rear deck is installed.
The Center was built with funds raised by the members, private donations, and grants from the Long Hill Township, Morris County and private foundations.  The actual construction relied upon the generous help of local contractors and professionals who donated their effort.  We would particularly like to thank:
  • Murphy and Hollows, Site Plans
  • Bob Coleman, Architect
  • George Falzarano, Fill
  • Terence Golden, Stump removal and foundation contractor
  • Tony Juliano, Site Preparation
  • Clark Cheshire, Relocation of baseball diamond
  • Hans Tielman, Forestry
  • Long Hill Road Department, chipping
  • Al Pepe and Sons - Electric Installation

The Senior Citizens have a number of regular and special programs, and operate about 6 bus trips per year.  VOLUNTEERS are needed to organize and run our new programs.  THESE EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ANY SENIOR.  You don't have to be a member.

See the Senior Calendar for schedules and details.
