Stirling VFC Engine 24

New Engine 24
Engine 24 at Community Day, 2008

Engine 24 is a Pierce "Quantum" mid-mount pumper.  It was purchased from the township's capital budget in the summer of 2008 to replace its 20-year-old predecessor.  It is equipped with:
  • 2000 GPM, single stage pump with built-in foam capability
  • 500 HP Detroit diesel engine
  • Push-button electronic torque converting 5 speed automatic transmission
  • Anti-lock brakes and engine exhaust brake
  • Independent suspension
  • A top-mounted console, accessable from either side, which places the engineer up off the street, and gives him much better visibility of the fire scene.

New Engine 24
Engine 24 Center console can be accessed from both sides and provides improved visibility for the operator.

  • Carries 6 firefighters safely in an fully heated and air conditioned enclosed cab.
  • Pneumatic retractable stairs
  • Radio headsets for the driver/pump operator to improve fireground communications.
  • Auto-chains that drop down below the wheels at the push of a button
