Resident Security Programs

ID Cards

The Police Department started "Project Identification" to increase school and public safety and provide a convenience to the residents.

At Saint Vincent de Paul School, these ID cards help to identify the casual intruder and harmful trespassers on school grounds.  These trespassers might include a student suspended from the school, expelled students or disgruntled members of an organization.  It also may assist with identifying students from rival schools and individuals seeking revenge against a staff member.  These trespassers could also be someone who is physically threatening or intending to sell narcotics to school children.  The identification program will also benefit during school trips where the school children are taken out of the township for trips and special activities.

Identi-kid program

The Police Department also makes fingerprint records for the township's children.  The Identi-kid program is a voluntary program which provides parents with a fingerprint card of their child.  Fingerprints are taken on standard cards, which are then returned to the parents to keep on file at their residence.

The program is offered to pre-school age children in the community at the Kindergarten Workshop sponsored by the Long Hill Township PTO in May of each year.  We also operate the program at other selected public events heavily attended by children.
