  • We have an officer certified to inspect and advise on Children's Car Seats.  After December 1, 2001, all children under 8 years old must use a car seat.  Please read the announcement.
  • We have formed a Domestic Violence Crisis Response Team in response to a state grant program.  Please read the announcement and volunteer your time.
The Long Hill Police Department consists of 29 officers, 5 Telecommunications Operators, 8 School Crossing Guards, 2 Matrons, 2 secretaries and a part time administrative assistant.  Uniformed officers undergo intensive initial and recurring training.  The police vehicle fleet includes 10 marked vehicles, 3 marked four-wheel drive vehicles and 4 bikes.

In 1985, the Long Hill Township Police Department was the FIRST police department in New Jersey to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).  On March 24, 2001 the Long Hill Township Police Department was again awarded National Accreditation status by CALEA.  The Long Hill Township Police Department has always strived to maintain a level of superior law enforcement professionalism and dedication to duty and service.  We believe participation in this process will help us to better serve our community and the public.

In the year 2001, there was only one residential burglary in Long Hill Township.  Read more on the Police Statistics Page.

The Long Hill Police Department was recognized as the Best Dressed Police Department (under 200 Officers) in 2000 by Law and Order Magazine.  This Department also won this coveted award in 1987 and 1999.  The men and women of the Long Hill Police Department are dedicated professionals who take great pride in their appearance and the services rendered to the residents of Long Hill Township.

If you wish to commend an employee, or if you feel that an employee has acted improperly, it is most effective to contact the employee's supervisor directly as soon after the event as possible.  If the employee's immediate supervisor is not available ask to speak with the on-duty supervisor.  A commendation, recommendation, or complaint can be initiated verbally or in writing.   More Information
