| The Long Hill local of the PBA is a fraternal organization of our town's police officers.
The PBA contributes to the local community through these community projects:
- The annual Fishing Derby for town youngsters, at Stirling Lake.
The lake was stocked with over 500 trout, food for all was donated by the Stirling Hotel and Burger King,
and the youngsters had a great time.
- The Toy Drive in December. For 16 years, we have collected toys, books and games from township residents. See paragraph below.
- Ongoing support to the Police Explorer Post and the Long Hill Little League.
Every December, the PBA collects toys for sick and injured children
forced to spend Christmas in nearby hospitals. Please donate new toys,
games, books, CDs, or hobby and craft supplies for newborn to 17 year olds. before December 19 in the drop boxes at:
- O'Bagel
- Essel Paint
- The Learning Center
- Gillette and Millington Schools
Our members then personally distribute these gifts to children at Morristown Memorial and Overlook Hospitals.
The PBA wishes to thank all the residents who were so generous with their contributions to our Annual Toy Drive.
The PBA also sells the
"Entertainment, 2003" book of "2 for 1" and discount coupons
for area dining, fast food, shopping, discount air fare, travel,
cruises, car rental and hotels.
These books cost $20.00, and the proceeds support the charitable programs
of the PBA. "Entertainment, 2003" books can be purchased at:
- Speedymart
- Regal Cleaners
- O'Bagel
In addition, we participated with other police fraternal organizations in these events:
- The New Jersey Special Olympic Torch Run, to benefit children with physical and emotional handicaps.
Over $1,300,000 was raised to support athletic competition for those with special needs.
- The Special Olympic Polar Bear Plunge. Members swam in the Atlantic Ocean on February 24 (37 degrees) to
raise an additional $590,000 for the Special Olympics.
- The Tour de Cure. This is a 30 mile bicycle tour sponsored by the American Diabetes Association to raise
money for diabetes research.
- A fund-raising run to "Ground Zero" to benefit the Port Authority Police World Trade Disaster Survivor's Fund.
