The questionnaire tried to be \"one size fits all\" and failed. We submitted it anyway, because there is a minor tie-in to State Aid. 'November 15||20110115||Wastewater/Sewer|Current highlights of the Sewer situation:

Pumping Station Rehabilitation. A $2,000,000 project is underway to upgrade several of the sewer pumping stations. The sign on the front lawn of Town Hall reflects the generous contribution from the state of New Jersey.
Sewer Ban and Treatment Plant Capacity Our latest consultant, OMNI Environmental, prepared a \"Capacity Assurance Study\" and presented it at a Township Committee meeting on November 10, 2010. The proposal calls for some technical upgrades at the wastewater plant. The major new idea is the installation of a 1,600,000 storage tank just before the treatment plant. I will store up the excess flow of sewage during rainstorms, and then release that excess through the treatment plant after the storm subsides. That way, the plant will not exceed its licensed capacity. Read the study here. The Township Committee took no action.
I&I (Infiltration and Inflow) Inspections The inspection of homes for unlawful sump pump and downspout connections is essentially complete. Very few violations were found, and they are mostly corrected.
Smoke Testing followup The smoke testing conducted in the fall of 2009 exposed a number of leaks in the wastewater system, where rainwater could \"infiltrate.\" These are being repaired one-at-a-time, where they affect manholes. Leaks also were exposed at the cleanouts which every property has at the edge of the right-of-way. We are awaiting a legal determination whether the repair and sealing of the cleanouts is the responsibility of the township, or the property owner.
|'+

At the time, they proposed this TENTATIVE schedule:

2003 - Continue to develop the plan. Public Review in the Summer.
2004 - Congressional funding
2006 - Construction

The Corps of Engineers updated their website Status Page for our project on January 25, 2010. The Status now reads (underlines by the webmaster):
The initial study was authorized by U. S. House of Representatives Resolution Docket 2517, dated May 7, 1997. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District (USACE) executed a feasibility cost sharing agreement with the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for the study. The study included surveying, engineering and design, environmental and cultural studies, economic analyses, and public coordination. A Detailed Project Report and Environmental Assessment were issued in October 2004 with a favorable recommendation for a flood damage reduction plan under the Continuing Authority Program. The recommendation is supported by the NJDEP as non-Federal sponsor and Long Hill Township as local sponsor. A Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) will be executed with the non-Federal sponsor allowing for the initiation of real estate acquisition and construction.|'+
