Preserving the Legacy of 2000-2003

1995 Master Plan

The Master Plan is revised every 6 years.
  • The current Master Plan is dated 1995, but is often referred to as the 1996 Master Plan.  This Plan is copied on this website for your information.
  • The Plan was NOT revised, but was "re-examined" in 2003. The Re-examination Report is about 20 pages, and essentially confirms that the earlier Plan is still valid.
  • The Planning Board is currently starting a complete revision to finish before December, 200x.
  • In the meantime, the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) has given Long Hill a small grant to study the development of Valley Road and Meyersville.  That grant technically not part of the Master Plan process, and does not technically fall under the Planning Board.  Instead, it is being administered by a separate Steering Committee.  However, the Planning Board is holding hearings to gather public opinion for the ANJEC study, and presumably, the ANJEC report will become a part of the Master Plan, where appropriate.

The Master Plan has several components.

  • The basic 1995 Plan itself.  Pages 1-159 are on the website and are indexed below.
  • Background Studies that went into shaping the Master Plan.  Pages 161-272.  See original Table of Contents for section titles.  These pages are not included here for two reasons:
    • The data is 12 years old. These sections will have to be totally re-done.
    • It is impossible to re-create any linkage between the Background Data, and the conclusions in the main part of the plan.
If you want to read the Background Studies, visit the Library and review the copy on file there.  (It is on the third shelf against the wall behind the main Circulation Desk - for easy access.  Just ask at the main desk.)
  • The 2003 Reexamination Report.  It changes nothing, and is about 20 pages long.  It is kept with the Master Plan at the Library.  If anyone requests it (link to the webmaster at the bottom of this webpage), we will publish a copy on this website.
  • The 2006 Stormwater Supplement.  This is a fat package (over 100 pages), which addresses issues specific to stormwater management.  This section consists of a collection of state regulations, definitions, technical material and local ordinances.  It was added to the Master Plan as a state requirement.  It also is kept with the Master Plan at the Library, but will not be published here.
We apologize for the poor quality of these pages.  The Master Plan was prepared by a consultant who is no longer with us, and no original electronic version is available.  We must rely on photographs of the paper copy.
