Environmental Commission

The Environmental Commission is responsible for working with municipal officials to educate the public and generate solutions to environmental issues.  The Environmental Commission is also responsible for commenting to the Planning and Zoning Boards about environmental issues which should be considered in deciding applications before those two Boards.

We recommend that you recycle your old PC instead of adding hadardous waste to the landfill.  See our PC Recycling page for details and suggestions.  You may also visit the hazardous waste disposal page on this website.

Flashing icon that says: NewNew Jersey has a statewide plan to control suburban sprawl.  You have seen the big map on the news.  We have the Long Hill area map and a brief explanation.  For the complete story, read about the Blueprint for Intelligent Growth on the New Jersey Anti-Sprawl website.

You should be aware of the hazards of Radon gas, if you live on one of our hills.  Visit our Radon page.

The Environmental Commission recommends these websites:

The State of New Jersey has a hotline for reporting spills and emergencies.  Read about it

"The Pest Control website"

Be advised that the Safer Pest Control website is very inefficient.  For example, under ”Yards & Gardens”, there is a link to ”Lawns we can live with”. This tip sheet is downloaded as a 1.1 MB file which requires Acrobat to read it.  Expect to wait 7 minutes to download this 2 page thriller.

If anyone knows of a more efficient site that conveys the same message, please suggest it to the Long Hill Webmaster or the Environmental Commission.
