Preserving the Legacy of 2000-2003 Affordable Housing |
| The Affordable Housing Officer, oversees the affordable housing in the Township. A file of qualified persons who are seeking affordable housing (either low or moderate) rental units is kept in Town Hall. That list is updated each year. Anyone interested in being included on the list is invited to complete an application available at Town Hall. The following chart shows the income limits set by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for residents of Morris County: | |||||||||||||||

All the affordable units are currently occupied.
At Lounsberry Meadow a waiting list exists for the 42 senior citizen units
and the 10 non-elderly handicapped units.
In Stirling Manor, there are six (6) moderate, two bedroom units.
There are eleven (11) accessory apartments located within the Township.
In Gillette, there are eight (8) units in Chestnut Run.
All the units in Long Hill Township are rental units.
Rehab Program The Township, in cooperation with Community Development of Morris County, is engaged in a rehabilitation program whereby the residents who are income qualified (see above chart) are eligible for reconstructive work on their home. Please call the Affordable Housing Officer for information or to refer someone whom you feel might benefit from this program. (Reconstructive work includes a new roof, sewer hook-up, general handicapped retrofitting; extension and/or interior painting, etc.) Accessory apartments are permitted in residential neighborhoods of the Township. The purpose of accessory apartments is twofold: To allow residents who have excess living space in their homes to create an apartment and secondly, to thus provide units of affordable housing. To investigate the possibility of creating an apartment in your home, call Town Hall for information. |
